More than 1,200 species have been discovered in the Amazon over the past 10 years, according to the WWF. The report Amazon Alive! counts 637 new plants, 257 fish, 216 amphibians, 55 reptiles, 16 bird and 39 mammal discoveries since 1999, making the South American rainforest one of the most diverse regions on Earth… (via: Guardian UK)
